THANKS for GIVING to Friends of Tucson’s Birthplace!
Your donation is vital for growing Mission Garden:
Preserving local agricultural and ethno-botanical knowledge
Protecting biodiversity and genetic diversity for a sustainable future
Providing hands-on education and opportunities for engagement in the outdoors
Fostering multicultural and intergenerational social interaction
Nurturing the fertile soil that has provided sustenance over the millennia
Creating a public oasis of nature and history in the heart of the city
Sharing the tastes of our unique heritage
Celebrating our food crops, harvest festivals and culinary traditions
For Friends of Tucson’s Birthplace, the re-creation of historic Mission Garden is an exciting challenge. To bring the Garden to life we need your help. Each step along the way provides extraordinary opportunities for individuals, groups, businesses and non-profits to contribute time, labor, skills, and money.
If you have already contributed, please read about our latest accomplishments.
If you are new to the Friends and our mission, please consider a donation commensurate with your ability to contribute. A donation in any amount provides “seed money” to keep our organization moving forward.
If you are looking for a lasting gift, consider becoming a steward for a Kino Heritage Fruit Tree in the Mission Garden Orchard. Your tax-deductible donation of $1,000 allows you to choose one from the fruit trees still available and your donation will go to maintain your tree for years to come. You may even want to sample some of the fruit it bears when it matures. Remember, this is a tree that is a direct genetic descendent of those introduced to southern Arizona by Father Eusebio Francisco Kino and other early missionaries and colonists.
We encourage organizations as well as individuals to become stewards. One person or organization may sponsor one tree for $1,000. Two people can become stewards of one tree for $500 each; three people for $333; four people for $250 each and five people for $200 each.
The names of all Tree Stewards will be recognized on signs identifying the type of tree and its steward(s)
Thank you very much for supporting our effort to honor, preserve, protect, and promote the cultural heritage of our region, of which Mission Garden is an important part and the first project of the Tucson Origins Heritage Park.
